About Chocmotif, short chocolate history

Since the Mayans first cultivated the Cacao bean some 5000 (5k) years ago, chocolate has been used as a religious symbol, as a form of currency, a beverage, as a source of taxation, and since the 19th Century... a chocolate bar.

The evolution continues... Chocmotif now brings you a unique range of printed chocolate products.

20 years of research and development has resulted in patented technology for committing high resolution images onto chocolate.

Scotsman Alan S. Macleod left the World Famous Glasgow School of Art in 1977 with a Degree in Murals & Stained Glass design, and a travelling scholarship. After teaching Art & Design to Secondary school pupils for 7 years, he left teaching to open a deli and catering business, where his interest in chocolate was fast developing... around that time, he wondered if it was possible to put a picture onto chocolate.

20 years on and three patents later, his company Chocmotif is now proud to continue the great Scottish traditions of innovation and enterprise, to bring you a unique range of printed chocolate goods.
